@Dornbrau: Thanks for your response. I like al the different reactions on this picture and title. I can imagine that for most people this is just a gate. I was intrigued with it for several reasons (it's beautiful and not standard in this area and it's old so you can imagine a long history...). It's great to reed the different things that come to people's minds.
